Early Signs Of Pregnancy

Early Signs Of Pregnancy – A Game Of Hormones

When a woman wants to be a mother, the question that haunts her mind in the beginning of her every menstrual cycle is if she will be pregnant this time or not. And how come she can have this surety that she is pregnant or not.  The women must be aware of the fact that the surety regarding pregnancy can only be given through the pregnancy test; but obviously there are some other natural ways too. Nature manifests it self through different ways. So, when a woman gets pregnant, there are some natural signs from nature that depicts her pregnancy. Though, the woman can have surety only from the pregnancy test regarding her being pregnant or not but the early signs of pregnancy may force her to go for a pregnancy test.

  • Spotting
  • Cramping
  • Changes In Breasts
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue And Lethargy
  • Missed Periods
  • Frequent Urination

The intuition that one is pregnant is seen mostly in those who understand their body very well. The woman who is keener towards her body will readily catch the changes occurring in her body at an early stage. Whereas, on the other hand if a woman does not have much idea and understanding of her body’s needs and requirements; she might not be able to catch the early changes in her body; if pregnant. Those women who are not much keen towards their body requirements and changes may become suspicious of being pregnant only when they would miss their periods. Periods being missed! Yeah, it’s the well heard alarm of being pregnant.

The early signs of pregnancy are generally common. But, it varies from individual to individual. The pregnancy of one woman differs from the other woman. Similarly, next pregnancy of a woman can be different from the previous pregnancy she went through. The important and interesting fact to know is that the early symptoms of the pregnancy are somewhat similar to those of menstruation. So, it may happen that you are pregnant but do not actually recognize it because the symptoms are very much similar to those that appear before menstruation. Let’s have a look on the early symptoms of pregnancy.

1 .Spotting

When the egg gets fertilized, the usual symptom that shows up is the spotting. It happens because the fertilized egg implants itself into the uterine wall. The spotting occurs because of this implantation. It is to be kept in mind that this implantation occurs in between sixth to twelfth day of the fertilization.

Another discharge of white milky material takes place and that’s because of the thickening of the uterine and vaginal walls. But if this discharge hold odor in it or if it causes itching, then you must need to visit the doctor as it might be the signs of yeast or bacterial infection.

2. Cramping

The woman in pregnancy undergoes cramps in the initial stages of the pregnancy and it happens because the fertilized egg implants itself in the uterine wall. Spotting and cramping occurs together. But, this factor must be kept in mind that it can hardly be distinguished if spotting and cramping is of pregnancy or it’s because of menstruation or any internal infection that has disturbed the menstruation.

3. Changes In Breasts

After conceiving, the woman also undergoes the changes in her breasts. The breasts show the following signs:

  • They become swollen
  • They become heavier
  • They become tender
  • Appear to be fuller than before
  • Areola becomes darker

This all happen because the body undergoes hormonal changes in pregnancy. Sometimes hormonal imbalances occur and these above mentioned changes in the breasts are observed that is for sure not the sign of pregnancy but of hormonal imbalance.

4. Nausea

In the initial stages of the pregnancy, the mothers’ estrogen level in the body rises that disturbs stomach functions. Because of this hormonal change, the mother may feel

  • Nausea
  • Food aversions

Nausea is also called Morning Sickness. But, it’s not true for every woman as all pregnant women do not suffer with nausea in the initial stages of the pregnancy. Sometimes, this nausea may disturb the pregnant woman in the evening or at any other time.

This fact must be kept in mind that some problems in stomach and intestinal regulations may also cause this feeling so it should not be mixed with pregnancy symptoms.

5. Fatigue And Lethargy

All the symptoms shown by a pregnant woman are because of the hormonal changes. As to when Progesterone’s level rises in the woman’s body, it causes extreme fatigue, tiredness and lethargic feeling in the mother. The other factors may contribute to this lethargic feeling during pregnancy and they are:

Low blood pressure

Low sugar level

Increased blood production

The mother must take plenty of water, fruits, protein and iron rich foods in order to remove this factor of fatigue.

The condition of being fatigued –if not pregnant- can also appear because of stress, physical exhaustion, flu or any other illness.

6. Missed Periods

The most evident sign of pregnancy is of menstruation being skipped. As soon as your periods jump the last day of your menstruation, it can be taken as a sign of pregnancy and you should go for a pregnancy test with a few exceptions. And those exceptions are that menstruation can be delayed because of any infection, birth control pills, weight gain and other factors.

Sometimes, bleeding also takes place even if someone is pregnant. If a woman experiences so, she must visit her doctor there and then.

7. Frequent Urination

After the woman has conceived, the woman will undergo a change in her frequency of urination. The urge of urination will rise again and again. This happens in the sixth or eighth week of conception. It happens because of raised level of hormones in pregnancy.

On the other hand, if you are not pregnant but still have to face frequent urination issue; then it might be the result of urinary tract infection, use of diuretics and diabetes.

The other common symptoms include:

Constipation because of excessive progesterone

Headache

Backache

Dizziness that happens because of dilation of blood vessels and low blood pressure.

A pregnant woman may undergo all these early signs of pregnancy or may have to face only one or two symptoms. These signs also appear before menstruation, so it’s advised to see your doctor in order to have confirmation if you are pregnant or not.
